Residential Solar Designed for the Demands of Sanibel Homes
Sanibel homes often have more than one major system competing for roof space, electrical capacity, and service access. Sanibel is part of the Southwest Florida area we cover, where roof condition, salt exposure, electrical upgrades, and access for future service can all affect the right solar setup. Solar may need to work alongside newer roofing, upgraded HVAC, pool equipment, backup power, remodeling, or older equipment that is already part of the property.
We review those conditions before the system is finalized. Roof layout, electrical service, usable sun exposure, existing solar components, and any planned work on the home all affect what should be installed and where it should go. That early review helps keep the project clean and avoids creating conflicts with other work on the property.
For homes with existing solar, we also look at what is still worth keeping. Panels, inverters, pool-heating equipment, and other components can have very different service lives, so replacement should be based on condition and compatibility rather than age alone. The recommendation stays tied to what the property actually needs.

Robert was so very helpful in my time of need my stress level has been crazy. My solar company filed for bankruptcy. I contacted them first week of July a work order was created, the installation company refused to come out. This is now September. I called his company he came out the next day and fixed my leaking from the solar panels that were improperly installed. Thank you sir I can sleep with ease tonight.Posted on Google Lisa ButtonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Robert, of Green City Solar, does awesome work on Solar Water Heaters. I recommend him and I will be using his service in the future. Here's why... My original solar water heater was installed by SunTec, which closed over a year ago. They recommended a couple solar businesses in Fort Myers. I contacted Advance Solar in 2024 to service my Steca Solar Water Heater, which was completed with no problems. A year later, I contacted Advance Solar to replace my 80 gallon solar water tank and expansion tank. Three techs showed up to install the new 80 gal. tank. But, the techs resoldered my circulation pump & check valve incorrectly to the solar in and solar out lines; the soldering work was extremely poor (I have pictures). When I saw the techs switching the circ. pump & check valve, I asked why and I was told because the tank is different than the original, and it doesn't matter how the circulation pump sends water to the solar in or how the water returns from the solar out at the rooftop solar collector. Within a few weeks, my circ. pump had a electrical short, which caused it to fail and since it was plugged into the Steca control module, that too failed. I contacted Advance Solar and it took about 2 months of emails and phone calls only to be told they do not work on "Steca" solar systems and if I want them to repair my circulation pump & check valve I would need to switch my "Steca" system to the Gold Line system (which of course costs more). I was even told by a manager that he tried finding me a solar company that worked on Steca and he couldn't find any. Robert of Green City Solar took me two phone calls to find, which some may say that the Advance Solar manager must not have tried too hard to find another solar business. Regardless, Robert of Green City Solar replaced my circulation pump & check valve (as installed by SunTec originally), which required swapping the dip tubes (something the Advance Solar techs should have done when they replaced my water tank a few months earlier). Robert of Green City Solar also replaced my Steca control module, and removed the poorly soldered pipes and soldered new pipe to make the job look very professional. Green City Solar cost less than what Advance Solar tried to charge me to switch systems and the work was completed in a professional manner. Included are three pictures: 1: Original installation (which has a silver expansion tank atop the 80 gal. water tank with a Taco circulation pump). 2: Advance Solar installation of new Lockinvar water tank and how they reversed the circulation pump, check valve, and the hot and cold cut-off valves are reversed from the original install (which is incorrect). 3: Green City Solar installation of new circulation pump (GoldLine), check valve, Steca control module (on wall), and other fittings (notice the professional work). Please note the pictures may not be in order as my description.Posted on Google Carilyn MombergTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Thank you so much Rob, I didn't know where to turn. I'm so glad I dialed your number. I thought for sure it was going to be a far worse diagnosis then it was. I so appreciate you. If you're looking for a quick response & fast service that's not up charging everything this is truly the best place to call.Posted on Google Robert PetersonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Solar Panel Installation in Sanibel, FL
A new solar system on Sanibel should be planned with the home’s structure, electrical service, and any recent property work in mind. Roof replacements, remodels, upgraded HVAC equipment, and electrical changes can all affect the final system layout, so those details need to be settled before installation begins.
We review the roof condition, usable exposure, service-panel capacity, inverter location, wiring path, and any existing equipment that needs to stay in place. That gives the project a clear technical plan and reduces the chance of changes being made after materials arrive or work is already underway.
Once the system is approved, Green City Solar handles installation, required permitting, inspection coordination, and final testing. We also confirm monitoring access and walk through the finished system so the homeowner knows how to check production and recognize a service alert later.
Solar Pool Heating in Sanibel, FL
On Sanibel, pool heating often has to work around more than just water temperature. Roof changes, rebuilt enclosures, new pumps, updated automation, and other property work can all affect how an existing pool-heating system should be set up or replaced.
We look at the collector area, plumbing route, pump capacity, controls, and the condition of any equipment already in place before recommending changes. That helps determine whether the system needs a repair, partial upgrade, or full replacement, rather than assuming everything has to be redone.
For new installations, we plan the collector layout and plumbing with the rest of the property in mind so the system remains accessible for future service. For older systems, we can troubleshoot leaks, circulation problems, damaged collectors, valve issues, and controls that are no longer working properly.
Solar Battery Backup in Sanibel, FL
Battery backup can be useful on Sanibel when the priority is keeping selected circuits available during an outage, rather than trying to power the entire home. Refrigeration, lighting, internet, medical equipment, security systems, and a few essential outlets are usually the first loads worth identifying.
We review the existing solar equipment, inverter setup, electrical panel, available battery location, and the circuits you want supported before recommending capacity. That gives a more accurate picture of how much backup the home needs and what additional electrical work may be required.
After installation, we test outage operation and confirm which circuits are backed up. We also show you how to check battery status, stored energy, and system alerts so you know what the system is doing when utility power is unavailable.
Solar Repair & Maintenance in Sanibel, FL
Solar equipment can keep working for years, but smaller faults tend to show up first as production changes, inverter alerts, communication errors, or pool-heating performance that is no longer consistent. Those signs are worth checking early, especially when the rest of the system is still operating normally.
We service existing solar electric, battery, and solar pool-heating equipment, including systems installed by another contractor. Our inspection focuses on the part of the system connected to the problem, then expands only where the findings point to another issue.
Once we know what is causing the fault, we explain the repair clearly and separate immediate needs from work that can wait. That gives the homeowner a practical path forward without turning a service call into a larger project than it needs to be.
Solar Permitting and Project Coordination in Sanibel, FL
Sanibel solar projects can involve more review than simply installing equipment on the roof. The City maintains its own permitting process, and solar work must meet current building and electrical code requirements before the system can move through inspection and approval.
Green City Solar prepares the project around those requirements from the start. Permit documents, equipment specifications, structural details, and inspection steps are handled as part of the job so the installation does not stall because something was missed after work has already begun.
This becomes even more important when solar is part of a larger property project. Roof work, remodeling, structural changes, or other permitted improvements can affect the order in which work should happen. Coordinating those pieces early keeps the solar portion aligned with the rest of the project instead of creating another round of corrections or scheduling problems later.

What to Consider Before Installing Solar in Sanibel, FL
Solar installation on Sanibel can involve more coordination than the panel layout alone. The condition of the roof, electrical setup, existing equipment, recent property work, and city requirements can all affect the scope, cost, and timing of the project.
Roof Condition
A roof that is nearing replacement can change the installation schedule and mounting plan. Addressing roofing work first can help avoid removing and reinstalling the solar system later.
Existing Solar Equipment
Older panels, inverters, batteries, or pool-heating equipment should be checked before new components are added. Some equipment may still be worth keeping, while other parts may need to be updated for compatibility.
Electrical Capacity
The service panel, disconnects, inverter setup, and available electrical capacity all influence what can be installed without additional electrical work.
Structural or Exterior Changes
Roof replacements, enclosure work, remodeling, or other structural changes can affect panel placement, attachment points, and permit documentation.
Sanibel Permit Requirements
The City of Sanibel has its own solar permitting process. Project drawings and technical documents need to match current city requirements before installation can move forward.
Future Service Access
Panels, batteries, inverters, and related equipment should remain accessible for inspections, repairs, roof work, and future upgrades.
