A More Practical Approach to Solar in North Fort Myers, FL
North Fort Myers has a mix of newer homes, older properties, and existing solar systems that have already been through years of Florida weather. North Fort Myers is part of the Southwest Florida area we service, and many homes here need repair, equipment replacement, or support for older systems just as much as they need new installs. That means the right solar recommendation is not always a new installation. Sometimes the better answer is repairing what is already there, replacing one failed component, or updating part of the system instead of starting over.
We look at the condition of the equipment, the roof, the electrical setup, and the way the home uses power before recommending the next step. That gives us a clear picture of what still has useful life, what needs attention now, and where a new system or upgrade would actually add value.
For homeowners starting from scratch, the same thinking applies. The system should make sense for the property, the energy use, and the budget from day one, without adding equipment simply because it fits on the roof.

Robert was so very helpful in my time of need my stress level has been crazy. My solar company filed for bankruptcy. I contacted them first week of July a work order was created, the installation company refused to come out. This is now September. I called his company he came out the next day and fixed my leaking from the solar panels that were improperly installed. Thank you sir I can sleep with ease tonight.Posted on Google Lisa ButtonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Robert, of Green City Solar, does awesome work on Solar Water Heaters. I recommend him and I will be using his service in the future. Here's why... My original solar water heater was installed by SunTec, which closed over a year ago. They recommended a couple solar businesses in Fort Myers. I contacted Advance Solar in 2024 to service my Steca Solar Water Heater, which was completed with no problems. A year later, I contacted Advance Solar to replace my 80 gallon solar water tank and expansion tank. Three techs showed up to install the new 80 gal. tank. But, the techs resoldered my circulation pump & check valve incorrectly to the solar in and solar out lines; the soldering work was extremely poor (I have pictures). When I saw the techs switching the circ. pump & check valve, I asked why and I was told because the tank is different than the original, and it doesn't matter how the circulation pump sends water to the solar in or how the water returns from the solar out at the rooftop solar collector. Within a few weeks, my circ. pump had a electrical short, which caused it to fail and since it was plugged into the Steca control module, that too failed. I contacted Advance Solar and it took about 2 months of emails and phone calls only to be told they do not work on "Steca" solar systems and if I want them to repair my circulation pump & check valve I would need to switch my "Steca" system to the Gold Line system (which of course costs more). I was even told by a manager that he tried finding me a solar company that worked on Steca and he couldn't find any. Robert of Green City Solar took me two phone calls to find, which some may say that the Advance Solar manager must not have tried too hard to find another solar business. Regardless, Robert of Green City Solar replaced my circulation pump & check valve (as installed by SunTec originally), which required swapping the dip tubes (something the Advance Solar techs should have done when they replaced my water tank a few months earlier). Robert of Green City Solar also replaced my Steca control module, and removed the poorly soldered pipes and soldered new pipe to make the job look very professional. Green City Solar cost less than what Advance Solar tried to charge me to switch systems and the work was completed in a professional manner. Included are three pictures: 1: Original installation (which has a silver expansion tank atop the 80 gal. water tank with a Taco circulation pump). 2: Advance Solar installation of new Lockinvar water tank and how they reversed the circulation pump, check valve, and the hot and cold cut-off valves are reversed from the original install (which is incorrect). 3: Green City Solar installation of new circulation pump (GoldLine), check valve, Steca control module (on wall), and other fittings (notice the professional work). Please note the pictures may not be in order as my description.Posted on Google Carilyn MombergTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Thank you so much Rob, I didn't know where to turn. I'm so glad I dialed your number. I thought for sure it was going to be a far worse diagnosis then it was. I so appreciate you. If you're looking for a quick response & fast service that's not up charging everything this is truly the best place to call.Posted on Google Robert PetersonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Solar Repair and Service in North Fort Myers, FL
Existing solar equipment does not need to be replaced simply because performance has dropped. Inverter faults, wiring issues, failed controls, damaged collectors, and other component problems can often be isolated and corrected without rebuilding the entire system.
We service both newer and older solar systems in North Fort Myers, including equipment that has already been on the property for years. The first step is identifying where the problem is actually coming from, then determining which parts are still worth keeping and which need attention.
When repair is the right option, we focus on restoring the affected components and confirming the system is operating properly before the work is closed out. When replacement makes more financial or technical sense, we explain that clearly and show why.
Solar Panel Installation in North Fort Myers, FL
New solar installation starts with getting the major decisions right before equipment is ordered. Roof condition, available exposure, electrical capacity, and the expected production all need to line up with the home and the amount of power the system is intended to offset.
We confirm the system layout, mounting requirements, inverter location, wiring path, and service-panel capacity in advance. That preparation helps keep the installation clean, limits avoidable changes on site, and gives each component a practical location for future access.
After installation, we complete the required testing, confirm monitoring access, and review expected system performance with the homeowner.
Solar Pool Heating in North Fort Myers, FL
A solar pool heating system gives homeowners a practical way to extend the swimming season without relying on a conventional heater every time the water temperature drops.
System performance depends on collector area, roof exposure, plumbing layout, pump capacity, and the amount of shade around the property. We review those conditions before recommending equipment so the system is matched to the pool and the way it is used.
We install new solar pool heating systems and service existing equipment with leaks, damaged collectors, circulation problems, or control issues. After the work is complete, we test the system and confirm proper flow and operation.
Solar Battery Backup in North Fort Myers, FL
Battery storage can keep selected parts of the home running when utility power is unavailable and can also hold excess solar production for use later in the day.
We size backup systems around the circuits that matter most, such as refrigeration, lighting, internet, medical equipment, and other essential loads. The existing solar setup, inverter compatibility, electrical panel, and desired backup duration all affect the final configuration.
Before installation, we confirm what the battery will support and how the system will respond during an outage. After setup, we test backup operation and show you how to monitor battery status, stored energy, and system performance.
Solar Service and System Planning in North Fort Myers
Choosing a local contractor should be about more than installation day. Lee County permitting, equipment access, inspection requirements and future serviceability all need to be considered when the system is planned.
We keep each project coordinated through one team, so questions are answered by people who know the property and the system. That matters when a repair comes up later, equipment needs to be upgraded, or you want to add battery storage to an existing setup.
For North Fort Myers properties with older solar equipment, service records matter. Inverter model, monitoring access, prior repairs, roof work and electrical changes should be reviewed before deciding whether the system needs repair, component replacement or a larger update.

What to Check Before Moving Forward With Solar in North Fort Myers, FL
A solar proposal should give you enough information to judge the system itself, not just the monthly payment or panel count. Before signing off, it is worth confirming a few details that affect cost, serviceability, and future performance.
Roof Condition
The roof should have enough remaining life to support the system without creating an early removal and reinstall expense.
Electrical Capacity
The service panel, inverter, disconnects, and related equipment need to support the proposed system without last-minute upgrades.
Production Estimate
Projected output should be based on the property, available sunlight, and the equipment selected, not a generic system-size estimate.
Equipment Access
Inverters, batteries, disconnects, and other components should be positioned where they can be inspected and serviced without unnecessary difficulty.
Warranty Coverage
Review what is covered for the panels, inverter, battery, workmanship, and roof penetrations, along with who handles a warranty issue later.
Future Energy Use
Planned changes such as an electric vehicle, new HVAC equipment, pool upgrades, or battery storage can affect the amount of solar capacity that makes sense today.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Solar photovoltaic systems and solar heaters require a Lee County permit. The application includes project plans and supporting documents, followed by the required inspections. We handle the permitting process as part of the installation.
Yes. We service existing solar electric, solar pool heating, and solar thermal systems, including equipment that was already on the property before the current homeowner purchased it. We inspect the system first and identify which components need repair or replacement.
Not necessarily. Lower production can come from an inverter issue, failed component, wiring problem, equipment fault, or another isolated condition. The system should be diagnosed before replacement is considered.
A standard grid-connected solar system normally shuts down during an outage. Backup power requires a system designed to operate independently from the grid, typically with battery storage and compatible inverter equipment.
FPL net metering uses a bidirectional meter to track electricity taken from the grid and excess solar energy sent back to it. Excess production can offset electricity purchased from FPL under its current net-metering program.
Yes. We inspect and service existing solar pool heating systems with leaking collectors, circulation problems, damaged components, valve issues, and other performance concerns. Replacement is recommended only when the condition of the equipment makes repair impractical.
